Freezer Friday
This morning was our annual surprise trip to the....FREEZER!!! This is the day when they truly grasp the concept of temperature and measuring with a thermometer. They have a buddy to watch how the temperature drops then rises again!
The picture right before I announce we're going to walk into the freezer. Just look at those faces...
The mayhem that happens inside!!
Documenting our experience in our science journals (temperature inside, outside and freezer)
Jan Brett
In case you haven't heard, K1 has been learning about the author and illustrator Jan Brett! We have been reading her beautiful books that are inspired by her travels to different countries. Her favorite animal to draw is a hedgehog, she also has a few as pets. Yesterday we watch a video of her drawing a hedgehog from her website and followed her step by step. Today they traced over their drawings with Sharpie and water colored. I'm usually a stickler for their drawings being "accurate" but today I let them choose what color(s) to paint. I've never seen more colorful animals in my LIFE! :)
During Daily 5, Listen to Reading, they listened to some more Jan Brett stories!

Yesterday I was walking into school when I noticed this awesome nest that was woven with straw wrappers! We went for a nature walk today to see the nest and other things in nature.

Learning about coins
This week we hit the ground running with learning the names of coins! We played a fun "heads or tails" game with a buddy. We also did a fun science experiment to see how many drops of water we could squeeze onto a coin.
