Plant Needs Foldable

Yesterday I tried this "foldable" for the first time and I was BEYOND impressed with how well your children folded, cut and labeled! Check out their hard work...

Egg Time!

Today we placed 8 fertilized chicken eggs in our incubator and crossed our fingers and toes that in 21 days they'll find their way out to meet us!

Trying Radishes

Today we had a special visit from our districts "head chef". She prepared a lesson on our super food of the month...radishes! We all learned new things about them and even got to sample two different kinds.
showing us the whole radish

our radish "plates"

a little nervous to try...

She taught us that if we hold our nose, our food doesn't taste as good!

Questions??

Today we discussed how a questions is different than a statement. We thought of words that usually start off questions (how, why, when, where, etc.) and how questions are punctuated. Then during their "Read to Self" and "Read to Buddy" time they found questions in their books. I told them their homework for tonight and/or the weekend was to look for questions in their books at home. Happy hunting! :)

Redshirting Kindergarteners

I  don't know if you caught this story last night on 60 minutes:
Redshirting: Holding Kids Back From Kindergarten

I have heard, read and seen convincing arguments for both sides of this debate. In my opinion, I  think parents know what's best. You are with your child the most and know if they are socially and academically ready. There is not a researcher or author that knows your child better than you! I'm interested to know your thoughts..email me if you want to discuss :)

108

...is how old Dr. Seuss would be if he was still alive today! We learned so much about the man behind our favorite books and characters. I think their favorite activity was learning that Seuss is actually his middle name so all day long we called each other by our middle names!
