This week we are reading (one of my favorites) the story Meanies by Joy Cowley. We read one "shared reading" book per week. Shared reading books usually are predictable, have a rhyme or rhythm, and have large print suitable for large group readings. They help readers to develop positive concept of themselves as readers, develop book and print concepts, provide the reader with a model, and gives them security to read aloud. Ask your child:
- What do Meanies drink?
- Where do Meanies wash?
- What do Meanies drive?
- What do meanies eat?
- Where do Meanies sleep?
- What do Meanies do?
- Who wants to be a Meanie?
